One of the worst phones I’ve tried. General Electric 21006 2.4 GHz 1Line Cordless Phone

I got this set of phones as a replacement for 2 cordless phones I had that couldn’t hold the battery life even after replacing the batteries.

At first look, these phones appear to be full of features…hold, ability to transfer a call between handsets, walkie-talkie feature that will work even when the power goes out, one base requiring only one phone jack. But unfortunately I never did get to try out some of those features due to the horrible audio/reception.

This great looking phone attracted my attention. Uniden TRU 58652 5.8 GHz Twin 1Line Cordless Phone

About 20 years ago I had purchased cordless phone and despite the extra long telescopic antenna, I couldn’t get more than 10 ft from the base. But that was 1982 and no cordless phone worked perfect.

Over the years I witnessed new phones showing up on the market.

So when I noticed this technological marvel with 5.4GHz frequency and very attractive silver finish, I immediately assumed that it must be better phone than my worn out Panasonics. The claim printed right on the front of the package “introducing the most powerful phones ever built” assured me that I’m buying a quality product.

The phone has great features. I like the push to talk option and 2 handsets.

The phone looks really great but it just doesn’t work well. At about 60 ft from the base you can hear static and about 100 ft away from the house conversation becomes impossible. Per instructions, I relocated base away from any possible interference, but this little beauty just didn’t work.

My 900 MHz costing $29.99 has more than double the range and there is virtually no static 200 ft away. My old 2.7GHz 4-line also outperforms by far.

This great looking reminds me of the crappy phones from the 80’s.

Don’t waste your time calling cusomer service. The so called “technician” will read from the book about microwave ovens, computers and fluorescent lighting interfering with your phone. The guy is very rude and keep pausing for a minute at the time and than tells me that I have a bad phone line in my house. All other phones work just fine from the same line and so does when you’re 20 ft away from the base.

Don’t waste your time and money on this inferior product.

Not Worth the Money Panasonic KXTG5200 5.8 GHz 1Line Cordless Phone

I’ve been an enthusiastic user of cordless phones ever since the 2.4Ghz spread model came out in 1999. It had good range, excellent , and long battery life. After this phone was consumed by our rottweiler in a fit of jealous hostility when we left the house without him, I started looking around for a new phone and immediately started drooling over the 5.8GHz Panasonics. I decided on the 5200 model since I want spread- and I use voicemail through the phone company and didn’t need an answering machine.

Best Value For 5.8 GHz Dual Handset Cordless Phone Vtech ia5845 5.8 GHz Twin 3Line Cordless Phone

I have owned several cordless phones and have always been pleased with the quality of the products. My 10 year old still had crystal clear sound (even after being dropped hundreds of times,) but the battery life started going downhill last month so I decided to retire it and upgrade to a newer model.

I knew that I wanted a dual handset system with good range and long battery life, but didn’t want to spend a fortune on features I won’t use. I decided on the ia5845 which I purchased at Walmart for $38.95. (I’m not going to reiterate every single specification, because you can read those on the product details page. I will just give you the basics and a few things I feel are noteworthy about this system.)

Wasn’t satisfied with this product Uniden TRU 446 2.4 GHz 1Line Cordless Phone

This product is a 2.4GHz spread cordless phone with caller ID and two handsets. It is headset compatible. It’s possible we have a bad unit, but we’ve had multiple issues with this product, including inconsistent volume levels, and intermittent problems with poor voice quality in both directions. We’d have a number of cases where someone on the other side of the conversation couldn’t hear us, and we’d have to switch to using the other handset. This occurred with both handsets. The only positives were long battery life and low price. we’re returning the unit for replacement with another brand/model.
