I bought this phone 5 years ago and have become quite familiar with it since.
I would start by saying that as far as performance goes, this phone gets very high marks. I can’t remember a time when I was interrupted by static or background noise. Reception was always very good and voices were always very clear.
However, I am somewhat concerned at how this phone tends to "eat" batteries. I went through 3 sets of batteries (the original set and 2 replacement sets) since I have owned the phone. I was careful to "cycle" (fully drain and recharge) the batteries at regular intervals to keep them at peak performance. Even after doing this the phone still seemed to ruin the battery packs.
During the fourth year the phone started acting erratic. It would continually say "searching for signal" or "beep" for no apparent reason (and yes the batteries were fully charged). Some of the buttons would only work when pressed 2 or 3 times. It got so bad that I finally had to retire the phone.
I don’t know if I should complain about the 4 year life or not. For the price I certainly expected more. From Sony I certainly expected more.
Although the handset was a little on the heavy side, I found the controls well thought out. The phone was easy to use and adjust.
