Above average, eats batteries Sony SPP ID910 900 MHz 1Line Cordless Phone

I bought this phone 5 years ago and have become quite familiar with it since.

I would start by saying that as far as performance goes, this phone gets very high marks. I can’t remember a time when I was interrupted by static or background noise. Reception was always very good and voices were always very clear.

However, I am somewhat concerned at how this phone tends to "eat" batteries. I went through 3 sets of batteries (the original set and 2 replacement sets) since I have owned the phone. I was careful to "cycle" (fully drain and recharge) the batteries at regular intervals to keep them at peak performance. Even after doing this the phone still seemed to ruin the battery packs.

Just about there Vtech VT 5831 5.8 GHz 1Line Cordless Phone

Overall the VT5831 is a very nice system that offers pretty much everything that you could wish for … we are talking here full expansion, handsfree on but the base and the handset, nice clear display, features galore with an impressive set of options. So why am I having an issue ? … well it’s because of the basic thing that you wish a phone can do perfectly and it’s sound … unfortunately, the sound when used with a headset is pretty poor and not consistent when using the handset either. I thought initially it was a setup of issue or a line issue but I tried it in two different homes which are in different cities and I am getting the same problem.

A decent midlevel choice but with some drawbacks Uniden TRU9466 5.8 GHz 2Line Cordless Phone

Pre-purchase:

I’ve owned several quality cordless phones over the years and can be quite picky with the phones. Recently my 2-line corded phone that I use for home office work went on the fritz and needed to be replaced. We’d seen the various extendable handset-based phones out there and had thought about possibly going to that kind of setup. Plus the main phone in the house was also getting older so this seemed like a good opportunity to switch.

VTech’s sporty new phones Vtech VT 9241 900MHz 2Line Cordless Phone

My Experinece:

In my house cordless phones had become a little bit of a joke, let me explain. Over the last five years I bet we have bought ten cordless phones, everyone of them having a early timeless death. From short in the phone, to no when you were talking on the phone, and someone dropping it real hard on concrete.

Needless to say I was sick of buying cordless phones that would not last, or live up to the expectations printed on the box. That is when I discovered V-Tech. Over the years I had heard of V-tech like for my children’s toys but not for telephones, so I did my research.

2.4 GHz can interfere with baby monitors and vice versa Uniden DCT6463 2.4 GHz Trio 1Line Cordless Phone

I love this phone, it is small and unobtrusive, easy to set up, and has a ton of great features. I love it until I have to talk into it. Then it pops and crackles and pings and tings in my ear. Callers on the other end of the phone constantly tell me that our connection is terrible, or they ask me if I am driving because my signal is fading in and out.

No cordless phone can beat a VTech Vtech VT 9115 900 MHz Cordless Phone

Of the five or six cordless phones I’ve used in my lifetime, none is even close to the quality of the VT9115. This is a great phone, and is relatively inexpensive as well. For anyone looking to purchase their first cordless, don’t settle for anything less. This phone will last many years…..I’ve had mine for five years without any problems.

The best part about the is its range. I can talk on this cordless while walking around my neighborhood, up to about 300 feet away from my house. The quality of sound is also amazing when far away from the phone holder. It picks up telephone signals wonderfully, and every connection is a great one.

VTech VT2431 style, functionality and lots of range! Vtech VT2431 2.4 GHz 1Line Cordless Phone

The Basics

I’ve owned the VT-2431 for a year and a half. I’ve never had a single problem with it. The range is fantastic, the phone is functional, small, attractive and useful. The menu includes volume controls, a phonebook, a calls log, and settings for changing the base of the phone. As far as range, I’m guessing that I get clear reception as far as 500 feet from the base. Not bad for an inexpensive phone. Battery life is very acceptable but I’ve never done a test of how long I can talk on the phone without the battery dying. The 2.4ghz band is uncrowded for now, compared to the 900mhz band which has been clogged by so many phones for many years now.
